July 9th Update: The family member mentioned in my previous update, my grandfather, passed away Thursday morning. I need to be getting ready over the next few days to fly to the west coast to be with my family during this time, but I'll still work on these whenever I get free time in between packing and other preparations. I expect that I'll be able to reply to all comments in this journal tomorrow as well, and things should start to settle down in real life for me after the 13th (which is when I'll be getting home to CA). Thank you so much for your patience, everyone!July 6th Update: On the morning of the 4th, we had a health-related emergency in my family. I apologize to everyone who I have not replied to yet and to those who have paid for their sketches and not received them yet due to this. I'll be doing my best to catch up over the next few days, and I expect to still be able to continue working on everything. In addition, while a suitable pup was found for me, I would not have been able to pay for him by the end of the week (which is when the breeder would need full payment) unless I magically came across all the money needed, so I won't be getting that particular pup like I'd hoped. However, I'm going to continue taking these commissions, and hopefully I'll be able to find a job that I could physically handle and earn enough in time for the next litter if they find me another pup that fits the personality desired for service work. Thanks so much to everyone who has helped so far!
I'm going to be offering 350 slots for $6.00 USD ink sketches such as this one
For those who may not know, I am currently trying to raise funds in order to have a service/guide dog trained to help me to be more physically independent as there is no medical intervention that can cure or fix my medical conditions (dysautonomia and a skull base malformation, among other things that certainly don't help). This dog will be trained in counter-balance work, modified guide work and laser-pointer guided retrieving (please visit my Blogspot
links if you'd like more in-depth info).
However, before any of this can happen, I need to find a puppy that possesses the desired traits. I've been in contact with a breeder who has had service and therapy dogs come from her litters in the past, and long story short, they have a litter that I am on a list for that has a good chance of containing a pup fit for future service training and work. While I'd paid a $500 deposit about two months ago, I just now found out that I will need to come up with about $2,000 USD in order to have my pup flown to me if one shows SD traits in said litter. The litter evaluation (where they evaluate the pups and then see who they'd be a good match for) is this weekend, and they very well may have a pup that would work for me. I talked to one of the gals involved in the evaluation and puppy care today, and we are going to try and shoot for the third week of this month to send a pup with desired traits to me if I can pay the $2,000* to cover all the costs.
I currently only have about $14 raised so far toward my service dog efforts. While I am handicapped (I have to walk with a cane and suffer from syncope and hip joint instability, blah blah blah), I plan to try and find work within the next month or two at a job that I feel I could handle, assuming anyone will hire me, in order to raise the funds that the training school I'm going to be working with will need from me in order to begin training my pup in a year or so. However, art commissions are the only way I can raise money at this very moment for the puppy himself, hence me offering these quick ink sketches.
These only take me about 5 minutes or so to complete, so these will not
get in the way of the current character sheets that I still owe, which I will have completely done by the end of this month at the latest. You can feel free to angrily smack me if for some gawd-awful reason I don't, btw
.TL;DR: I need to raise $2,000 within the next few weeks in order to pay for a pup that will eventually be trained in service and guide work to help me to be more independent in the world. I am offering 350 slots for $6.00 ink sketches in order to try and raise this money. How to purchase an ink sketch1.
There is no limit to how many of these you can order. There's 350 slots, and I doubt I'll fill even half of them anyway.2.
Comment on this journal if you would like a slot(s) (no notes please, if possible. I'm way too disorganized with the note system)
. Include character references and, if you have something specific you'd like to see, desired pose(s).3.
I'll reply to your comment with your total and my Paypal address. As soon as I receive payment, I'll sketch your commish out ASAP.4.
Adding the extra few cents to cover Paypal's fees are optional, I don't feel right asking for compensation for that. If you would like to cover the fee though, you can find a Paypal fee calculator HERE
.*All this covers microchipping, vet fees, airfare, pick-up fees, pet-approved shipping crate fees and the supplies the pup will need on his trip from Washington state to Ontario, California.Thank you so, SO MUCH!
Even if you can't afford a slot, spreading the word would be a great help as well:3!Ink Sketch List
